This was a prosecution by a complaint which charged the defendant, Carl Tidwell, with criminal damage to property in violation of section Page 234 21-1(a) of the Criminal Code (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1973, ch. 38, par. 21-1 (a)). After a non-jury trial, he was found guilty and the court sentenced him to one-year probation, subject to the condition that, through the probation department, he pay the complaining witness $200 for restitution of damages.
